Dick Tharp
Funeral services for Larry Richard “Dick” Tharp, 68, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Tharp passed away at 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 31, 2019 at his home.
He was born November 27, 1950, at Windsor, Illinois, to Loren Tharp and Lora Glaspell Tharp. Mr. Tharp was a veteran, having served with the United States Army. On June 20, 1970, he was married at Birch Tree, Missouri, to Rhonda Stoops. Before his retirement, Dick worked as a heavy equipment operator for the City of West Plains. He loved antique tractors and also loved to work on them. Dick enjoyed taking trips to Colorado with his close friends. He thought the world of his grandkids and loved his wife Rhonda dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Tharp, of the family home; two children, Larry Tharp and wife, Christy, West Plains and Wendy Leonard and husband, Coley, Caulfield, Missouri; two grandchildren, Lilly and Jackson Tharp; eight brothers, Edward Tharp and wife, Betty, Garry Tharp and wife, Darline, Jerry Tharp and wife, Janice and Fred Tharp, all of West Plains, Charles Tharp, Mountain View, Missouri, Jim Tharp and wife, Deloris, Olden, Missouri, Dee Tharp, Viola, Arkansas and Keith Tharp and wife, Marilyn, Birch Tree, Missouri; five sisters, Elaine Redburn and Shirley Holden, both of West Plains, Verna May Murphy and husband, Wayne and Joyce Snethern and husband, Jerry, all of Birch Tree and Betty Tedder and husband, Rollan, Hollister, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, one brother, Terry Tharp, one sister, Lela Kay Tharp and two brothers-in-law, Carl Redburn and Clay Holden, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elk Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Elk Creek Cemetery and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
