Samuel Howard Grisham
Funeral services for Samuel Howard Grisham, 58, West Plains, will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, February 12, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Becky Kiser and the Reverend Diane Cooke officiating. He died 11:50 p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Ozarks Medical Center.
Mr. Grisham was born February 28, 1953 in Springfield, Missouri, the son of Gerald Edward and Jeanette Kellett Grisham. He graduated from West Plains High School in 1971, and received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Drury University in 1975 where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and was a member of the golf team. In 1977, he earned his masters of business administration degree from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.
On June 26, 1982, he married Elizabeth Paris Newman in Hannibal, Missouri. Sam was a partner in G & W Foods and Grisham Properties. He loved his family dearly, and particularly enjoyed family times at the North Fork River cabin Monadnock. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in West Plains.
He was preceded in death by his father and his grandparents, Howard and Ruth Kellett and Sam and Hazel Grisham.
Survivors include his wife, of the family home; three daughters, Catherine White, husband, Ryan, of Jefferson City; Mary-Louise Tollenaar, husband, John, of Springfield and Margaret Schloss, husband, Jason, of Fayetteville, Arkansas; one granddaughter, Sophia Elizabeth White; his mother, Jeanette Grisham, West Plains; two sisters, Deborah Wehrman, husband, David, Centralia; Jan Crowe, Nashville, Tennessee; two brothers, Bruce Grisham, wife, Libby, and John Grisham, wife, Emily, both of West Plains; nieces and nephews, R. B. Grisham, wife, Jackie, Amy Grisham, George Nelson Crowe, III, wife, Cindy, Emily Crowe Williams, husband, Hudson, Courtney Grisham, Laura Grisham, Sarah Grisham, Phillip Grisham, Greta Grisham, John Zupan, wife, Eva, Molly Rivard, Olivia DeVoy and Hennr DeVoy; great nieces and nephews. Jack Williams and Avery Zupan; brother—in—|aw, Gale and Janet Newman; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Newman and Caroline DeVoy, husband, John; and several cousins.
Mr. Grisham will lie in state from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11th at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Missouri State University—West Plains or the West Plains Public Library Foundation and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
