Celebration of Life services for Rayetta Grace Faulkner, 80, West plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 23, 2021 at the Washington Avenue Church of Christ.
Mrs. Faulkner passed away at 3:20 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2021, at the West Vue Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born October 19, 1940,at Springfield, Illinois to Ray Walcher, Jr. and Henrietta (Escherhausen) Walcher. On December 21, 1958, she was married to John Faulkner who preceded her in death on March 12, 2002. Rayetta was a Christian and made her faith a top priority in life. She brought joy and happiness to everyone she came in contact with. Rayetta was passionate about helping people in need all the way until her life’s journey ended. Prior to her husband John’s passing, she enjoyed traveling and camping. One of her favorite memories was her trip to Hawaii. Lastly, Rayetta loved her family and friends unconditionally.
She is survived by, two children, Joyetta Booker and husband, Ronald of West Plains, Missouri and Debbie Hatley and husband Marshall of West Plains, Missouri; grandchildren, Gregory Jones, Tim Jones and Daniel Hatley, great grandchildren, Trinton Jones, Ellie Hatley and Gabriel Hatley.
Her parents and husband, preceded her in death.
A private burial will be held in the Stuart Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Stuart Union Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775. Online condolences may be expressed at www.robertsondrago.com.

The Faulkner Families,
We want to express our deepest sympathy to all of you on the passing of Rayetta. I worked with her at OMC and thoroughly enjoyed working with her! She always was very friendly, caring, and had a smile for everyone she met. She will be missed! My dad would say that every movie was new to mom because she didn’t remember it from the first time she had watched it. That was actually because she rarely sit long enough to watch a movie all the way through. She was up cooking or cleaning; Doing something for someone.
He also said that she had “Wheels on her Butt”. She enjoyed getting out and seeing things. She loved to go Window Shopping or to the lake or river. She especially loved going to visit relatives.
Mom was also a very good camper. She could cook some of the best meals over a fire or on a cook stove that I’ve ever had. Many Sunday’s after Church we would go to the river for lunch and swimming. Mom would have gotten up early, fried chicken and baked a chocolate cake to take for our lunch. Sometimes we took sandwich meat or hot dogs, but the chicken and chocolate cake were the best.
I still remember Dad saying to her, “Now Rayetta”, when she was doing something that bugged him.
He set up a loud sound on his computer for when you performed an illegal action. She would be doing something on the computer and you’d here that sound and then dad would say “Now Rayetta”. It was very funny. It still puts a smile on my face when I think of that.
Every birthday and even on my anniversary she would bake chocolate cupcakes with vanilla frosting. I’ve never been able to make them like hers and I figure it is because I’m missing her special ingredient of love that was always in them.
I hope someday I will be able to replicate her Thanksgiving Dressing recipe. Mine doesn’t turn out like hers and it was always the best.
She usually worked the hours we were getting ready for school, so it was up to dad and us to get ourselves off to school. I remember a tooth she cut out of poster board and placed by our toothbrushes. One side had a frown face and the other side the tooth was smiling. Every night she’d turn it to the frown and when we brushed our teeth the next morning we could turn it around to the smile face.
She had many ideas in her head and was very good at craft projects. She and dad would make wooden ornaments each year and give them to her co-workers, family, and church friends each Christmas. She loved to create things. Even if it was just coloring a page in a book.

To Rayetta’ family,
I went to Prairie Grove school with Rayetta about 1954 for one or two years. She was well liked and had a pleasant personality and was a joy to be around. She and her family lived near the Big Springs Creek.
I am so happy she got to to to Hawaii.
Take comfort in knowing she was a faithful Christian lady.

I had known Rayetta since grade school. She was so sweet to my Mom & Dad when they were going through their hospital days.
She saw me sitting alone at the last Jerry Lee Lewis concert at the Civic Center (when he was complaining no one ever came to hear him anymore) and joined me. When she wanted to “storm the stage” during one song, I was too embarrassed to do so.
