Lavada Talburt

Funeral services for Lavada Talburt, 87, of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Trinity Worship Center in West Plains, Missouri, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. 

Lavada took her heavenly flight home to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter morning, Sunday April 17th, 2022, at 9:37 a.m., at Ozarks Medical Center.

Lavada was born on February 11, 1935 at Moody, Missouri, to William Harold Dixon and Maggie Opal Durham Dixon.  On April 25th, 1951, she was united in marriage to Amos Talburt at Pekin, Illinois.  Amos and Lavada were married 55 wonderful years before his passing on October 16th, 2006.

Lavada was a woman of strong Christian faith and instilled her love of Christ in her children, their spouses and her grandchildren, leaving a legacy that will forever live on in the lives and hearts of her family.  She worked very hard throughout her life, working for many years at Rawlings Factory in Willow Springs, Missouri, and then ending her work career at Steelville Schools in Steelville, Missouri, where she served as janitorial custodian before finally retiring.  In her past time she enjoyed working outdoors in her flowers, crocheting, doing ceramics, spending time at her childhood family farm and collecting rocks.  But most of all, she treasured time spent with her family and loved ones.  Lavada loved people, never met a stranger and anyone that met her, instantly loved Lavada.

She is survived by two sons, Hal Talburt of West Plains and Rad Talburt and wife Joanne, of Doniphan, Missouri, and one daughter-in-law, Ramona Talburt, of Sycamore, Missouri.  Also surviving are four grandchildren, Shayne Talburt and wife, Stephanie, of Doniphan, Missouri, Bryce Talburt and wife, Shelby, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Grant Talburt and wife, Clancy, of West Plains, Missouri, and Seth Talburt and wife, Kirsten, of Ava, Missouri.  Lavada leaves behind two great granddaughters, Braidy and Landry Talburt of Doniphan, Missouri, and one great grand baby due in July.  In addition to her children and grandchildren, she is survived by her only brother, John Dixon and wife, Esther, of Willow Springs, Missouri and three sisters, Jean Fielding, Springfield, Missouri, Faye Hampston, Staten Island, New York and Marilyn Hunsperger and husband, Ken, of Miami, Oklahoma.  Many nieces and nephews, who she loved deeply, also survive.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her only daughter, Sondra Talburt, one son, Wayne Talburt, and two sisters, Aileen Hood and Novaleen Bertini.

Visitation will be at Trinity Worship Center on Thursday, prior to the funeral, beginning at 12:00 noon.  Burial will take place at the Moody Cemetery in Moody, Missouri.  The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the church she attended, Trinity Worship Center, and contributions may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO  65775.
