Funeral services for Alvin Leon Taylor, 90, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Gospel Hill Church of Christ, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Taylor passed away at 8:56 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at NHC Healthcare.
He was born August 28, 1931, at Burtrum, Texas, to LeRoy Taylor and Josie Ann Bird Taylor. On August 11, 1967, he was married in the State of Oklahoma, to Linda Mahan. Mr. Taylor was a veteran, having served with the United States Army. He worked as a fireman. Leon enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with his hands and family get-togethers with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Taylor was a member of Gospel Hill Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Taylor, of the family home; four children, Linda Gene Hart and husband, Wesley, Springfield, Missouri, Beverly Surface and husband, Russ, Alpena, Arkansas, Rick Taylor and wife, Shawanna, Pottersville, Missouri and Tyler Taylor and wife, Jeannette, Winona, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Janice Mahan; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, one son, Larry Leon Taylor, two brothers, Herman and Jack Taylor, three sisters, Ida Mae Herridge, Dovie Young and Katie Salyer, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Wendell and Juanita Mahan, and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, preceded him in death.
Mr. Taylor will lie in state from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Gospel Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.

Linda and families,
I am so terribly sorry for your loss of Leon. My greatest memories of Leon were from close to 40 years ago and we lived in 1414 W 4th street and I was close to 8. I saw Leon leaving home to respond to a fire call, that, was just so neat to me. Today I have never forgotten that, no the nice man man he always was to me as an adult, many years later.
