Graveside services for Frank E. Whisnant, 93, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022, at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Whisnant passed away at 12:30 p.m., Friday, August 5, 2022, at Baxter Regional Medical Center.
He was born September 8, 1928 at Gainesville, Missouri, to Bedford Forest (B.W.) Whisnant and Tessie Hargis Whisnant. On May 15, 1959, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Velva Strong, who preceded him in death September 25, 2018. Mr. Whisnant was a veteran, having served with the United States Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed hunting, and he also enjoyed trading for things. Mr. Whisnant was a mechanic, and he loved visiting with his customers and friends at his shop. He loved being with his family.
He is survived by three children, Charles Whisnant (Jennie), West Plains, Missouri, Tracey Whisnant (Tracy), West Plains, Missouri, and Audrey (Morin) Whisnant, Belcourt, North Dakota; six grandchildren, Alan (Allison), Randy (Emily), Jesse (Jordan), Charley, Jered, and Michelle; eleven great-grandchildren, including special great-grandson, Lowell “Buzz” Stuart; ten great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leeta Mae Terry, Kansas City, Kansas, and Linnie Rae Cox (Danny), Iola, Kansas; and special friend, Danny Judd.
His parents, wife, two children, Frankie Jo Whisnant and Gregory Dean Whisnant, one daughter-in-law, Terry Whisnant, one great-grandchild, and one brother-in-law, Mearle Terry, preceded him in death.
Mr. Whisnant will lie in state from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, in the Main Room of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.

I will miss Frank! He was always one of my favorite customers at McDonald’s… He always ordered a sausage egg cheese biscuit with round egg and a sr. coffee double cream… I would respond good morning Frank… And he’d reply good morning sunshine! I’m honored to have known him! Rest in peace my friend

All our condolences from Larkin and Alonzo Collins family. We knew him for years and hated to hear of his passing. God Bless to All and he’s in such a More Wonderful place with the ones before him
