I had the honor of being hired by and working with John in the newsroom at WREG-TV and long before that the pleasure of listening to him on the Zero Hour radio show. John made this world a better place. I think he made the newsroom a better place, too. I wish we had more news directors like him. He was my boss but I considered him a friend. John shall be remembered with great respect and fondness. My heartfelt sympathy to all his family.

John was one of those “Once in a Lifetime” people I was fortunate enough to know. He was an extremely talented man. He knew the broadcasting business and loved every minute of it. He always told me his first love was radio because it enabled you to be so creative. He could paint a picture with words that we all could immediately see in our own minds. I am sorry to learn we have lost this talented and creative man.

Dearest Carol,
You and John had a remarkable, precious relationship that filled your lives. I am so sorry you have lost your heart’s dearest companion. He left such a positive mark on so many people – I know you were proud of his accomplishments. You created such a warm and loving life on your “Green Acres”. I don’t doubt that you filled his final days with love, strength, humor, and grace. You are in the thoughts and prayers of many.
