Irene “Carol” Mullins
Funeral services for Irene “Carol” Mullins, 74, Pomona, Missouri, will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 29, 2012, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mullins died at 3:44 p.m., Friday, February 24, 2012, at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri. She was born January 26, 1938, at Junction City, Kansas, to Matthew and Anna Davis Turnbull. On August 11, 1956, she was married at Raton, New Mexico, to Bennie Mullins. Mrs. Mullins was an Army wife for 20 years. She arrived in the Pomona area following her husband’s retirement, and became heavily involved in the community and served as a volunteer with Red Cross. She was a devoted Christian, mother and wife, putting the needs of her family above her own with grace and a giving smile. Mrs. Mullins was well known in the community and was an avid bingo player. She was a positive influence and left a smile on the faces of those she interacted with.
She is survived by her husband, Bennie Mullins, Sr., of the family home; her children, Bill and Cam Luthi, Canadian, Oklahoma, Tony and Marcha Mullins, Springfield, Missouri, Ben Mullins, Kansas City, Kansas, and Bennie Melanie Mullins, Claremore, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Laura Mullins; seven grandchildren, Richard “Wayne” Mullins, Jr., Mary Elizabeth Roberson, Bennie Mullins, III, Tabitha Mullins, Joshua Mullins, Trent Mullins and Heather Mullins; six great-grandchildren, Richard Mullins III, Logan Mullins, Brooklyn Mullins, Zoe Antrim, Kyra Roberson and Joseph Roberson; two sisters, Viann Johnson, husband, Gene and M. Sue McClellan, husband Bobby, both Willow Springs, Missouri; mother-in-law, Martha Mullins, Tatum, New Mexico; two brothers-in-law, Bill Mullins, wife, Peggy, Morgantown, West Virginia and Don Mullins, wife, Mary, Tatum, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Cathy Porter, husband, Bill, Olathe, Colorado.
Her parents, step-father, Anton H. Haas, one son, Richard Mullins, two infant brothers, sisters-in-law Glenda Rogers and Barbara Evans and brother-in-law Pervis Evans, precede her in death.
Mrs. Mullins will lie in state from 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2012, until service time at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Mackey Cemetery. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
