Lawrence James “Bob” Thornton
A Celebration of Life Service for Lawrence James “Bob” Thornton, 84, Caulfield, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2013, in the conference room at Brooke Haven Health Care.
Mr. Thornton died at 8:18 p.m., Friday, December 20, 2013, at Brooke Haven Health Care.
He was born March 31, 1929, at Visalia, California, to Hugh Thornton and Annie Thornton. On March 4, 1959, he was married at Sonoma, California, to Elsie Jane Kirtley, who preceded him in death on June 1, 1990. On November 7, 1991, he was married at Reno, Nevada, to Rosemary. Before his retirement, he worked as a mechanic and was a Special Olympics coach for over fifteen years. Mr. Thornton was a Christian.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Thornton, West Plains, Missouri; six children, Larry Thornton, West Plains, Missouri, Eddie Thornton, West Plains, Missouri, Lonnie Thornton, West Plains, Missouri, Julie Green, husband, Paul, Parma Heights, Ohio, Melissa Thornton, West Plains, Missouri, and Scott Strothers, St. Louis, Missouri; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Connor, husband, Jake.
His parents, first wife, one son, Douglas and one brother, precede him in death.
