Robert Lee Conger
A Memorial Service for Robert Lee Conger, 94, West Plains, Missouri, will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 19, 2012, at First Church of God, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Conger died at 6:30 a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2012, at NHC Healthcare. He was born March 29, 1918 near Brewster, Nebraska to Finis and Mary Elizabeth Stephens Conger. He attended eight years grade school and two years of high school in a one room school in Blaine County, Nebraska and graduated high school at Taylor, Nebraska. Mr. Conger attended Stamps Baxter School of Music in Dallas, Texas, and completed courses from National Radio Institute. On September 18, 1940, he was married to Mildred Lucille Loy Fox, who preceded him in death in October of 1989. To this union, three children were born, Linda Hinkle, Ival Conger and Mildred Joanne Millsap. On June 2, 1990, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Zalla Ballinger. From 1949 to 1958, Robert and Mildred had a duet gospel program on a local radio station. Mr. Conger was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. Before his retirement in 1983, he had been employed at Rockwell International of Kearney, Nebraska as a toolmaker and grinder. Mr. Conger was a member of First Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Zalla Conger, of the family home; two children, Linda Hinkle, husband, Nelson, Elizabethtown, Kentucky and Joanne Milsap, husband, Gale, Ansley, Nebraska; four step-children, Richard Fox, wife, Ann, Broken Bow, Nebraska, Vivian Burns, husband, Robert, Mason City, Nebraska, Sherrill Dorris, husband Jim, West Plains, Missouri, and Bob Edmonds, wife, Linda, Springfield, Missouri; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Mack, Centerville, Georgia; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, first wife, one son, Ival Conger, one grandson, Bryan Fox, two brothers and two sisters, precede him in death.

Dearest Zalla and family…I’m so saddened by Robert’s death. He was such a great person. He gave me so much moral support when I was the Volunteer Director at OMC.
I pray that God and Robert will be watching over you and help you get through this sad time.

Our thoughts and prayers to Zalla and family during this time of grief…Robert was such a sweet man…we had the opportunity to visit with Robert recently and what a blessing that was…his relationship with Christ was so powerful and beautiful…he was truly a tremendous witness…we will miss him here on earth but what comfort we have in knowing that he is with Christ!!
