Mrs. Wheeler died 4:56 p.m., Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Ozarks Medical Center.
She was born December 17, 1966, at Peoria, Illinois, to Lee Von Allmen and the late Shirley Jane Earls Von Allmen. Carma was married to James December 20, 1984. She was a faithful and devoted wife of 33 years. She had been the Director of Nurses for twenty-three years for the Howell County Health Department. In 2010, she received the Public Health Nursing Leadership Award. She was exceptionally kind, and compassionate abut the community she served and was greatly loved as a mentor and co-worker. Carma enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. Her grandchildren and special nieces and nephews were her world. She loved taking them to the park, on shopping trips, riding the 4-wheeler, taking the kids to garage sales and the library, and especially sonic trips for slushes and ice-cream. Her goal in life was to make sure her family was well taken care of and the kids spoiled! She made each and every one of her grandkids, nieces and nephews feel very special. She was faithful member of the Junction Hill Pentecostal Church. Carma truly loved and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her husband, James Wheeler; two children, Aaron Wheeler and wife, Candice and Lanessa Pascarella; three grandchildren, Paisley, Mya, Grayson and two on the way; her father, Lee Von Allmen; one brother, Mike Von Allmen and wife, Dalia; one sister, Sherri Roy and husband, Mark; and eight nieces and nephews, Justin Von Allmen and wife, Kelsey, Dereck Von Allmen and wife, Hannah, Tyler Roy and wife, Mariah, Trenton Roy, Taylor Roy, Alyssa Von Allmen, Liberty Roy and Trinity Roy.
Her mother preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Elk Creek Cemetery.

I never met Carma personally, but have talked to her many times by phone as I work in healthcare. Anytime we had a patient that we needed help getting in for something, Carma was our “go to” person. She always got the job done! She was always so pleasant and just as concerned about our patients as we were. My heart goes out to her family as well as her “work” family, I know she has received her reward and she is rejoicing in Heaven, but for those she left behind there is great sadness. I pray for peace and strength that comes only from God during the difficult days ahead. She was truly a blessing to work with and she will be missed greatly.

My sympathies to the family. Carma was an exceptional lady. God must have seen how good she was and felt he needed her with him. She will watch over us all. May your memories bring you comfort in the days, weeks, months and years to come. Imagine the reunion in Heaven with all her loved ones. Til we see her again.

My heartfelt sympathy and prayers go out to all of Carma’s family. The loss of such talent, skill, and love is tragic. This is also a great loss to the entire county. I have had the pleasure of working with Carma for over 14 years at the Howell County Health Department. Her dedication, knowledge, and commitment to improving the health of our county residents was incredible. Very few people really knew the effort and energy she put into her work. We will never know how many lives she saved or illnesses she prevented through her labors. May the knowledge that she is now in the arms of Jesus Christ comfort her family and co-workers.

James and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I was shocked to read Carma’s obituary in the paper. I miss getting to visit with you like we used to. You and your family are in our prayers. Always trust the Lord. It is only through Him that we can get through hard times like this.
