Edv Bridges
Funeral services for Edv Bridges, 86, Bakersfield, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2018 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Bridges passed away at 9:28 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri.
He was born February 12, 1932, at Elijah, Missouri, to William Edgar Bridges and Jennie Mullins Bridges. On November 5, 1956, he was married at Salem, Arkansas, to Freda June Davis. Mr. Bridges was a Veteran, having served with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 – 1954; he was awarded the Bronze Star Award for his heroism during battle. He was a 32nd degree Mason and in his younger years, owned and operated Ed’s Sovereign Cut Rate Gas Station, Bridges & Sons Logging, Bridges Farms Trucking and Ozark Coach Lines bus service, transporting Baxter Healthcare employees to and from work. In his later years, Mr. Bridges was a farmer. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed hunting, fishing, tinkering with diesel engines, farming, gardening, sitting on the porch enjoying life and watching his grandchildren play ball.
He is survived by his wife, Freda Bridges, of the family home; six sons, Dale Bridges and wife, Lola, Bakersfield, Missouri, Russell Bridges, Fairdealing, Missouri, Steven Bridges, Caulfield, Missouri, Brian Bridges and wife, Jennifer, Caulfield, Missouri, William Bridges of the family home and James Bridges and wife, Janeen, Fredericktown, Missouri; ten grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, four sisters, Ruby, LouAlice, Thur-lynn and Bonnie and one daughter-in-law, Mary Jane, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Baptist Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Disabled Veterans of America and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
