Graveside services for Betty Lou Marshall Sparks, 84, Tremont, Illinois, formerly of West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2022, at Big Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sparks passed to eternal glory at 11:15 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2022, at her home.
She was born May 18, 1938, at Hocomo, Missouri, to James Marshall and Minnie Callahan Marshall. On July 31, 1960, she was married at Peoria, Illinois to Marcus Lyvern (Sparky) Sparks, who preceded her in death on October 28, 2014. They raised their family in Peoria and Betty Lou worked as a caregiver at the Apostolic Christian Home for the Handicapped for more than 25 years. After retirement, she and Sparky built a home near Caulfield, Missouri where they lived out the remainder of their lives. She was a selfless wife, mother, granny and great-grandmother, loving with her whole heart. She loved to serve her family, to work in the yard, sew, bake and to visit with friends and family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son, Douglas and her siblings, Orene, Jr., Martha, Edna, Paul, Preston, and Mary Sue.
She will be missed by her sons, Kim and Curtis (Tiffany) and one daughter, Kathy; seven grandchildren, Marcus (Tiffany), Emily (Jason), Megan (Joe), Caleb, Abby (Drew), Andrew(Casey) and Marshall(Chris) and eleven great0grandchildren. She also loved and cherished her nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m., Saturday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Big Springs Cemetery and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.
