Funeral services for Burvon Harley Owens, 92, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, December 4, 2022, at First Christian Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Owens passed away at 4:50 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, where he had been receiving care following a fall on November 1st.
He was born on July 23, 1930, outside of Dora, Missouri, where his family farmed. He moved with his family to northwest Missouri when he was a teen, and made Shenandoah, Iowa, his home for over forty-five years of his adult life before relocating to Marshalltown, Iowa, and retiring to West Plains. It was in Shenandoah where he made a career and met his wife, Lola, with whom he celebrated seventy-three years of marriage on November 20th.
Survivors include his wife; daughter, Rebecca Burright and husband, David; son Bruce and partner, Jeff Lynn; grandson, Scott Burright; granddaughter, Jennifer Collister and husband, Josh; brother, Wayne and companion, Darlene Storz; sister, Wanda Noble and husband, John; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He is preceded by his parents, Harley and Cloa (Martin), brothers, Doyle, Calvin, Flavol, Amon, and Benton, and sisters, Earney, Ellavee Cabeen, and Hazel Reavis. One other unnamed brother died hours after birth.
The services will be officiated by Pastor Rick Rutledge. In celebration of Burvon’s construction and woodworking skills, the family asks that memorial contributions be directed to Habitat for Humanity of West Plains. Those may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main,

So sorry to say goodbye to our good friend, Burvon. He leaves a big hole to fill in our church. Such a fine man. We are praying for Lola and rest of the family as they grieve this loss. David and Carrie
