Connie Carte
Funeral services for Connie Lorraine Carte, 67, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 12, 2018, at United Freewill Baptist Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carte went to her heavenly home on March 8, 2018.
She was born December 10, 1950 at West Plains, Missouri to Ralph and Naomi Bunch. She was married to Norman E. Carte on November 3, 1967. After Norman returned home from fighting in the Vietnam War, they couldn’t wait to start a family. Unable to have their own biological children, they set out to adopt a child; after 16 years of waiting, they adopted their daughter, Melissa, on August 1, 1984. Connie was a very devout Christian and a very faithful member at United Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for several years, served as a sponsor for church camp, helped with the Wednesday night suppers and was a deacon’s wife. She loved gardening, cooking, baking, especially baking her granddaughter Chloe a lemon pie, shopping with her daughter, granddaughter, mom and sister in law Mary, spending the summer on the lake with her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Darrel and Mary, going out to eat with friends, Stanley and Jane, and attending her granddaughter’s sports events and school activities.
She is survived by her husband, Norman; family dog, Rocky; her daughter, Melissa Tomovick and husband, Dave; granddaughter, Chloe Tomovick; mother Naomi Painter; two brothers, Dwayne Bunch and wife, Linda Sue and Verlin Bunch and special friend, Patty York; one sister, Wanda Wilbanks and husband, Bill; sister-in-law, Mary Edwards; special friends, Stanley and Jane Taylor, Jennifer, Isabel and Noah Johnson, The Hoffman Family; special aunt, Loeta White; nieces, Michelle Adams, Krystle Powers and husband, Michael, Melanie Wilbanks, Mindy Taylor and husband, Michael, Shawna Driskell and husband, Justin, Brooke McCarn and husband, Donald; nephews Christopher Wilbanks and wife, Sarah, Ronnie Bunch and wife, Sheri, Stacy Harlan, Cory Wilbanks and wife, Sonja, Shaine Bunch and wife, Stephanie and Caleb Powers; great-niece and great-nephew, Jaden and Tristan Tandy; and several other uncles, aunts and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She is preceded in death by her father Ralph, grandparents Larkin and Ida Collins and Irvin and Faye Bunch, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Norman C. and Opal Carte; brother-in-law, Darrel Edwards, sister-in-law, Linda Bunch, cousin, Ruth Madden, aunt, Lillie Carroll, family friend, Jesse Hoffman and several uncles and aunts.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at United Freewill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Gideon Bible Society or Camp Niangua, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
