Dorval Lee Brotherton
Graveside services for Dorval Lee Brotherton, 84, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Dripping Springs Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Brotherton died 7:40 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at Ozarks Medical Center.
He was born on September 24, 1929 near White Church, Missouri to Frank Brotherton and Hazel Thompson Brotherton. He attended West Plains High School graduating with the Class of 1947; and in 1947, he was married to Anna Lou Demoise to which two children were born, Sandra and Tracy. On December 12, 2008, he was married at Las Vegas, Nevada to Patsy Laxton Deatherage. In 1947, he joined the United States Navy and following his tour of duty, made his home in California. After his retirement, he returned to Missouri to the hills that he loved. Mr. Brotherton enjoyed traveling, driving his semi-trucks, hunting, fishing, country music and working on anything mechanical. Also, for a period of time, he owned and operated a farm east of West Plains. Mr. Brotherton was baptized in 2001 and attended the Central Church of Christ.
He is survived by two children, Sandra Lynn Patch and husband, Mike, Green Valley, Arizona and Tracy Brotherton and wife, Stephanie, Phoenix, Arizona; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Casey and husband, Pat, Millington, Tennessee; and his good friend, Tom Mincher and wife, Belinda, West Plains, Missouri.
His grandparents, parents and wives, preceded him in death. Mr. Brotherton will lie in state from 4:00 until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Dripping Springs Cemetery and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
