Edna Boyer Ward
Celebration of Life Services for Edna Boyer Ward, 100, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of West Plains.
Mrs. Ward died 10:45 a.m., Thursday, November 16, 2017 at her home.
She was born July 8, 1917 at Supply, Arkansas to Robert Redmond Reeves and India Ira Harris Reeves. She had attended the Arkansas State University, Jonesboro, Arkansas and on July 24, 1938, was married at St. Louis, Missouri to Harry Eugene Boyer who preceded her in death on November 6, 1993. On June 27, 1998, she was married at West Plains, Missouri to Warren Haskell Ward who preceded her in death on May 26, 2017. For twenty years, along with her husband, Harry, she owned and operated Harry’s Steakhouse of West Plains. Later she worked at Kimberlin Book Store for several years, and before her retirement, was a hostess at the Ramada Inn for thirteen years. She was a member of the Order Of Eastern Star, and was an avid golfer and had four Holes-In-One to her credit. For twenty-three consecutive years, along with her daughter, Rosemarie, she took a road trip—meeting up with her son, Fred and his wife, Barbara–to play golf at each resort they visited. Mrs. Ward was a spunky, fun-loving person and family was very important to her. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of West Plains where she had helped with the GA’s, YWA’s and other church activities. Mrs. Ward had a deep and abiding faith in God.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her two children, Rosemarie Chun, Camas, Washington and Fred Boyer and wife, Barbara, Chamblee, Georgia; two grandsons, Brad Chun and wife, Ingrid and Gene Chum; four great-granddaughters, Leilani, Annika, Isa and Opal; and a step-daughter, Shirley Dawson and husband, Bruce, West Plains, Missouri.
Her parents, husbands, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
As per her request, Mrs. Ward’s body was donated to the University of Missouri, School of Medicine, Columbia, Missouri.
The family requests that friends write their special memories of her on a card or letter and send them to the family.
