Florence M. Collins Berta
Funeral services for Florence M. Collins Berta, 90, Kingwood, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2014 in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Berta passed away Friday, February 14, 2014 at Silverado Senior Care Center, Kingwood, Texas. She was born July 3, 1923 at Siloam Springs, Missouri to Walter and Gladys Maritt Godat. On March1, 1941, she married Edward M. Collins in Peace Valley, Missouri. They made their home with their three children in Collinsville, Illinois. Florence and Edward were charter members of the Meadow Heights Baptist Church in Collinsville. Edward preceded Florence in death April 12, 1980.
She married Michael Berta on May 29, 1981 in Marissa, Illinois. He preceded her in death January 15, 1988.
Florence was a graduate of Willow Springs High School. She worked for Curtis Wright during World War II and subsequently worked for White Baking Company, North American Cold Storage and was office manager for B. W. Brokerage.
Florence is survived by son, Edward M. Collins, wife, Sue, Macomb, Illinois; daughter, Patricia A. Brightwell, Humble, Texas; seven grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Skinner; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Gay Levey, sisters, Opal Larew and Jean Buschmann and brothers, Sam, John and Walter Edward (Eddie) Godat.
Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
