Garry Floyd Emery
Visitation services for Garry Floyd Emery, 68, West Plains, Missouri, will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 1, 2017 at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Emery passed away at 12:07 p.m., Monday, May 29, 2017 at his home.
He was born May 9, 1949, at Springfield, Missouri, to Doyne Lester Emery and Maxine Merle McCulley Emery. On June 30, 1987, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Sheryl Marlee Wood. Garry graduated from Mountain Grove High School with the Class of 1967. He moved on to attend Missouri Southern State University, Joplin, Missouri, until he was called to military service in March, 1968. He entered the United States Army for training at Fort Leonard Wood; after basic training he was assigned to 101st Airborne deployed to Vietnam in June, 1969, where he served nine months, earning the Bronze Star. After serving his country, Mr. Emery became an insurance agent for Life & Casualty Insurance Company before moving to West Plains in 1980, at which time he joined the Barker Phillips Jackson office, which he operated until his retirement in 2015. Mr. Emery loved hunting and enjoyed spending time at his land and cabin with his family and friends. He loved his family. Mr. Emery was a member of the First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl Emery; two children, Amy Patillo and husband, Richard and Brett Emery; two grandchildren, Boston Patillo and Adeline Patillo; one brother, Randy Emery and wife, Gerry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His parents precede him in death.
Memorial contributions may be made to Ozarks Medical Center Cancer Treatment Center or Wounded Warrior Project and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

I hate to hear of Garry’s passing. Such a super guy that always had a story to tell & someone I will never forget. I am sure he will be missed by many. Prayers for the family.

Sheryl, i am so sorry. I spoke with him several times in the past and he was always so positive. I really felt that he had beat this and am now shocked to fine out of his passing. My prayers are with you and your family. God bless.
