Graveside services for Howard Eugene Barton, 65, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 18, 2022, at Willow Springs City Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
He passed away at his home surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, February 15, 2022.
Gene was born August 28, 1956, at West Plains, Missouri, to Samuel Isaiah and Wilma Mary (Cox) Barton. He graduated from Willow Springs High School with the Class of 1974. He worked at Sheltered Workshop Industries in Pomona for many years, and then as a greeter for Wal-Mart in West Plains. Gene was the best brother to his siblings, always looking out for them and answering questions, and even more special to nieces and nephews. His love for the outdoors, and especially fishing, will live on for future generations.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Wayne Lee and wife, Stacy, Pueblo Colorado, Robert and wife, Leslie, Marble Hill, Missouri, Dorothy Whitsett and husband, Charlie, West Plains Missouri, Lalah Gregory and husband, Keith, Willow Springs, Missouri, Richard and wife, Patty, Locus Grove, Georgia, and Roberta Levesque, Otis, Maine; thirty-three nieces and nephews; fifty-one grandnieces and grandnephews; and one great-grand.
He was welcomed in heaven by his parents, sister, Aletha Shuey, brother, Paul Barton, sister-in-law, Penny Barton, and many other family members.
Burial will be at Willow Springs City Cemetery, DD Highway, Willow Springs Missouri. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics Missouri, or a charity of your choice, and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.

I grew up the Howard and his siblings in Pomona. He was the sweetest guy and so nice. Sure will be missed. So sorry for the family’s loss. R. I. P.

To all Gene’s family and friends, I am very sorry to hear of Gene’s passing. I remember him well from WalMart; he was always so nice to everyone. Prayers for God’s comfort and blessing for you all.
