Graveside services for James Foster Gannon, 85, Gamaliel, Arkansas, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Oak Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Gannon passed away at 8:37 a.m., Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Baxter Regional Medical Center.
He was born November 19, 1935, at West Plains, Missouri, to Roy O’Neal Gannon and Eva Fern Foster Gannon. On December 17, 1954, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Helen Hiler. Jim retired from the telephone company. Mr. Gannon enjoyed hunting, fishing and making fudge. It brought him great joy to make and give away fishing baits. He was blessed to have a great family, grandkids and great-grandkids. Jim had the heart of a servant.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Gannon, of the family home; three children, Garnet Roam and husband, Dennis, Gamaliel, Arkansas, Pat Hoopes and husband, Corey, Bakersfield, Missouri and Quinton Gannon, West Plains, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Camisha Hunter and husband, Brandon, Katrice LaRowe and husband, Ryan, Ashley Vannada and husband, Brad, Michele Joseph and husband, Brooks, Lindsay Malatesta, Dillon Gannon and wife, Preslee and Trevor Gannon; eight great-grandchildren, Addison, Jaxon and Hynlee Hunter, Lincoln and Camdon LaRowe, Kiera Vannada, Weston Joseph and Landry Gannon; one sister, Sharon Kapphahn, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents and two sisters, Fern Smith and Louise Crowell, preceded him in death.
Mr. Gannon will lie in state from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Monday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Ronald McDonald House or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.

Jimmy Gannon helped my family in a very difficult time in our lives helping my father driving straight through from Salem Arkansas to Antioch California, leaving Salem at 12 am and arriving in Antioch California at 9:30 pm Monday evening, not knowing if my oldest brother Quinton Cooper, Louise’s husband, praying that he was safe and OK… not to be, Quinton was a wonderful brother, Louise and two boys were loved by our family, I will never forget Jimmy Gannon ,Louise, Ralph and Stevie, as long as I live….
