John Herbert Hoyt

Graveside services for John Herbert Hoyt, 86, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 27, 2016  at Howell Memorial Park Cemetery,  under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. Hoyt passed away at 2:10 a.m., Thursday, January 21, 2016, at NHC Healthcare.

He was born April 12, 1929, at Sharon, Pennsylvania, to Herbert William Hoyt and Norma Lorraine Parkhurst Hoyt.  On July 15, 1950, he was married at Berea, Ohio, to Gwendolyn Joy Crill, who preceded him in death on July 15, 2008.  Before his retirement, Mr. Hoyt worked as a tank commander and a police officer.  He was a Veteran, having served with the United States National Guard.  He enjoyed airplanes, held a pilot license and loved collecting trains.  Mr. Hoyt was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by five children, Sheryl Brooks, husband, John, David Hoyt, wife, Kathy, Daniel John Hoyt, wife, Gayle, Donald Hoyt, wife, Sherry and Judith S. Hoyt; fourteen grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

His parents, wife, one daughter, Linda Kruse and one sister, Nancy, precede him in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
