John Ralph McConnell
Funeral services for John Ralph McConnell, 75, Bakersfield, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2014, at Full Gospel Church, Bakersfield, Missouri, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. McConnell died at 4:50 p.m., Wednesday, June 25, 2014, at West Vue Nursing Center.
He was born March 27, 1939, at Bakersfield, Missouri, to James Floyd McConnell and Jewell Comelia Farel McConnell. On May 3, 1980, he was married at Belvidere, Illinois, to Carol Shook. Before his retirement he was a design engineer at Comcar Division of Textron, Inc. in Belvidere, Illinois. He was a great storyteller and loved wildlife; he was an avid hunter and fisherman. Mr. McConnell was a member of Full Gospel Church, Bakersfield, Missouri.
He is survived by his wife, Carol McConnell, of the family home; three children, Pam Thornton, husband, Butch, State of Florida, Sue Tolsma, State of Illinois and Mary Lee, Bakersfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tara Kenyon, Adam Lee, Ashley Lee and Sherri Taylor, husband, Shawn; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Clyde Ray McConnell, wife, LaVila, Capron, Illinois; one sister, Mona Ann Brown, husband, Billy, Bakersfield, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Janice McConnell, State of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, one daughter, Jean and one brother, Mike McConnell, precede him in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Baptist Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon Bible Society or Baptist Hill Cemetery, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Mr. McConnel was such a sweet, caring, giving, soft spoken gentleman. He was always so good to us. We treasured him as a friend and neighbor and we will miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Dear Carol we are so sad to hear the news of John’s passing, we have great memories of the both of you. John was always so kind to us as were you.
