Joseph Edward “Joe” Hollingshad
Graveside services for Joseph Edward Hollingshad, 95, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Howell Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Hollingshad passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2017 at his home.
He was born September 30, 1921, at West Plains, Missouri, to Lonzo Hollingshad and Mae Summers Hollingshad. He was married to Johnnie Mae “Jackie” McCandlis, who preceded him in death April 5, 1980. In March of 1984, he was married to Lillie Edith Hubbard, who preceded him in death May 27, 2007. Mr. Hollingshad was a veteran, having served with the United States Army. He was a Medic during World War II and was in several battles and campaigns, including Rhineland, North France, Normandy, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded five Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, European African Middle East Theater Campaign Ribbon, Victory Ribbon and four Overseas Bars. Mr. Hollingshad was a farmer and worked in construction; he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Hollingshad was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
He is survived by one son, Joe Harold Hollingshad and wife, Gina, Drury, Missouri; two grandchildren, Chance Hollingshad, Drury, Missouri and Courtney Stevens and husband, Nick, Thayer, Missouri; three great-grandchildren, Levi Hollingshad, Allie Hollingshad and Mia Stevens; one sister, Ruth Rickard, West Plains, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.
His parents, wives, two brothers, Noel and Virgil Hollingshad and three sisters, Opal Carte, Vera Stark and Louise Hollingshad, precede him in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Saturday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Honor Guard of West Plains and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

We’re so sorry to hear about Joe’s passing…he will be greatly missed. He was truly one of a kind and we thought the world of him.
