Lorene Elizabeth Barrett
Funeral services for Lorene Elizabeth Barrett, 90, West Plains, Missouri, formerly of Springfield, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 27, 2013, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. Frank Mulford, of Central Calvary Baptist Church, West Plains, Missouri.
Mrs. Barrett went home to be with her Lord at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 18, 2013, at her home.
She was born August 11, 1922, at Pottersville, Missouri, to Elza Hopkins and Clara Fox Hopkins. On January 16, 1939, she was married at Salem, Arkansas, to John Clinton Barrett, who preceded her in death on December 31, 2003, they lived in the Springfield/Ash Grove area for fifty-nine years; they also enjoyed warm winters in Belle Glade, Florida. Lorene enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and spending time with her grandchildren. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was known for her radiant smile and her vibrant joy, love and laughter touched all who knew her. Mrs. Barrett was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by four children, Dr. John C. Barrett, Jr., West Plains, Missouri, Russell L. Barrett, wife, Nancy, Springfield, Missouri, Mary Eloise Jenkins, husband, Ronald, Springfield, Missouri and Rebecca J. Thomas, husband, Bill, Walnut Creek, California; ten grandchildren, Brenda Anson, Springfield, Missouri, Gary Duncan, Palm Springs, California, Randy Jenkins, Grand Prairie, Texas, Danny Duncan, Centerburg, Ohio, Bradley Barrett, Republic, Missouri, Ronda Barney, Gainesville, Virginia, Bryan Duncan, Walnut Creek, California, Dawnn Barrett, Independence, Missouri, Jenniffer Rose, Morrisville, Missouri and Jeannette Serrano, Branson; twenty great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren, two sisters, Vera Cleo Bailey, Vacaville, California and Vivian Stringfellow, Hernando, Mississippi; one brother, Edward Hopkins, wife, Jewell, Pottersville, Missouri.
Her parents, husband and one brother, Charles Hopkins, precede her in death.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., to 12:00 Noon, Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, followed by a family gathering at Central Calvary Baptist Church, West Plains, Missouri. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery, with services officiated by Reverend Edward Hopkins of Hope of Glory Church, West Plains, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
