Major General Barton
Funeral services for Major General Barton, 88, West Plains, Missouri will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at the Bakersfield Assembly of God Church, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Barton died at 5:05 a.m., Monday, November 10, 2014, at NHC Healthcare.
He was born May 22, 1926, at Buick, Missouri, to Lee Barton and Della Flowers Barton. He was married to Pauline Harris, the mother of his children. On November 18, 1989, he was married at Bakersfield, Missouri, to Ethel Virginia “Billie” Moore Hickman, who preceded him in death October 30, 2013. He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army. Mr. Barton was a member of the Assembly of God Church.
He is survived by four children, Dennis Barton, Louise Wallenmyer, Della Bohannon and Glenda Spradling; five step-children, Ann Taylor, husband, John, Teresa Price, husband, Larry, Debbie Murphy, husband Mike, Ella Shaw, husband, Bubba and Beverly Bales, husband, Rick; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; three brothers, Reldon Barton, Ronald Barton and Wayne Barton; and three sisters, Pauline Barton, Thelda Borisch and Betty Hill.
His parents, wife Ethel Virginia “Billie” Barton, one son, Daryl Barton, one sister, Hazel Pitts and three brothers, Chester, Bernard and Tony Barton, precede him in death.
Mr. Barton will lie in state from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Tuesday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Custer-Herron Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Custer-Herron Cemetery, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
