Mary Katherine Barnett
Funeral services for Mary Katherine Barnett, 87, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2015, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Barnett departed this life March 29, 2015, to be with her Lord and Savior, who she trusted faithfully and never wavered.
She was born January 2, 1928, at West Plains, Missouri, to Dave and Rosa Etta Pliler. On May 11, 1946, she was married at Salem, Arkansas, to Luther Jay Barnett, who preceded her in death July 20, 2010. To this union, four children were born, Beverly Kay Jones, husband, M. L., Luther W. Barnett, Jr., wife, Judy, Ronald Eugene Barnett, wife, Kathy and Randall Dale Barnett, wife, Becky, all of West Plains area.
Mrs. Barnett had many callings in life; being a good mother and grandmother was always first and foremost on that list. For twelve years she worked alongside her husband on their dairy farm, milking cows and feeding hay, all while raising four children along with other numerous tasks. Mrs. Barnett also operated a laundry in West Plains for two years and was head cook at Richards School for ten years.
She is survived by her four children; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, one grandson, Micheal Jones, one brother, Gene Pliler and several half -brothers and half-sisters, precede her in death.
She was an inspiration to us all. We dearly loved her and did not want her to go, but in each of our hearts we were glad for her to be with God where she is safe and without suffering. We shall miss her the rest of our days.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or Evergreen Cemetery, and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

Melissa, Kathy and families,
What a wonderful grandmother Mary was! I kind of felt like she was my grandmother, too. Any one who walked into her household became family to Mary. And her cooking was just wonderful. I loved her smile and her hugs. Mary has shown many people how to love and how to be good Christians. She was our gift here on earth – a gift that we couldn’t keep – but the Lord is taking care of her now for us. She and Mom cooked together at Richards School. Mom was just there a short time. I’m not sure about Melissa, but I know I felt like a special kid because my mom and Mary were BOTH cooking lunch. I knew the “lunch ladies” personally! May God bless you, MJ. I know your heart is hurting. (Big Hug). Love you, Sis….Julie
