Fire Chief Joe Auffert, The Officers, Firefighters, Board Members and Auxiliary of Howell County Rural Fire District #1 want to send our deepest sympathies to Linda and the family. We were so sorry to hear about Mike. When we first moved the Howell Rural Fire Station to Washington Ave, Mike had an office there. We worked along side him for several years. Linda was a part of our Auxiliary and when we needed Mike’s help, he was always there to lend a hand. We will never forget the dinners and other things he helped with. We will never forget the Christmas parties that Santa and Mrs Claus showed up to during the years. The kids loved it and so did we. Please let us know if there is anything we can help with anytime.

Linda, Justin & Jessica, I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. I was a rookie news reporter when I first met Mike and his partner, Duane, but they quickly broke me in and we all became fast friends. I cherish the friendship that developed between Mike & Linda and my family. I will never forget the jokes and pranks, and those Halloween parties. My favorite Mike story is the time he played Santa in the Christmas parade and when he came by my toddler daughter, smiled at her and said, “hi Danielle.” She couldn’t believe Santa knew her name! Mike, you will be greatly missed and you definitely made an impact in this world. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
