Norma Jean Hathcock

Norma Jean Hathcock, 92, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home in West Plains, Missouri, on April 5, 2025. She was born on December 25, 1932, in Hulbert, Oklahoma.
Those who knew Norma will remember her for her appreciation of life, her dedication to her family, her generous and kind heart, and her wicked sense-of-humor.
After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, Norma and Roy (her husband of 53 years) made their home in West Plains, Missouri, dedicating their lives to teaching school and raising their two children, Bryce and Marisa. Norma enjoyed a 35-year teaching career with the West Plains school district.
Loved ones who previously passed, namely her parents, sisters, husband and both of her children, surely enjoyed a sweet reunion. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, friends, and community.
A visitation will be held at the Langston Street Chapel of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home on Sunday, April 13, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., to honor and remember Norma. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and daughter at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Hulbert, Oklahoma.

To the Hathcock Families,
We extend our Deepest Sympathy to each of you on the passing of Norma. My Dad, Norris Cozort, had the pleasure of being a fellow education colleague of not only your Father but Norma as well for many years. I had the pleasure of having Norma as my 3rd Grade Teacher. I remember her pushing me a lot to meet my fullest potential as a student of hers. Also, I remember and still have the lop sided ceramic bowl I made in her class too with me not having the artistic talent like my sister had. Norma and I remained close over the years after I returned to live in West Plains from March 1997 and on. We always enjoyed the visits we had together and enjoyed talking about her years of being a teacher too. She will be missed! We will be keeping all of you in our daily prayers and thoughts. Daily may God provide each of you peace, comfort, strength, and encouragement at this time. May God bless all of you.
In Christian Love,
Norris & Ivene Cozort

Norma was a lovely lady that I admired. She and Roy took Chuck and I under their wings when we first moved to West Plains as new teachers many years ago. We were blessed to enjoy a long friendship. She was a dedicated teacher, and worked tirelessly at the Harlin Museum to promote area artists. My deepest condolences to her family. She was loved and will be missed
