Graveside services for Reverend James William Garner, Sr., 87, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, January 5, 2020, at Oak Lawn Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Reverend Garner completed his majesty’s service on earth on December 31, 2019, at 1:24 p.m., at his home.
He was born October 10, 1932, at Warren, Ohio, to Dana and Ida Garner. James earned a Bachelor’s degree from Baptist Bible College, Springfield, Missouri. He gave a lifetime of dedication to Jesus Christ Our Lord. His Missouri family and friends will remember him as the Pastor of Pleasant Hill Church, the Kirby Vacuum man and his Bible tract Ministry. His Ohio family and friends will remember him as “Uncle Jim” and “Big Jim”, where he served the Doers-of-the-Word Baptist Church in their pro-life, prison and radio ministries.
He is survived by six children, Nadene Ortega and significant other, Mark Hollingshad, Carol Orozco and family, Joy Skaggs and family, Ruth Garner and family, Emily Cox and family and Jimmy Garner and wife, Angie and family; former wife and mother of his five children, Barbara Jean Garner; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
His parents, one infant daughter, Janie Lynn Garner, one grandson, Bobby Joe Orozco, two sisters, Juanita Burkey and Eva Bianco and two brothers, Danny and Elwood Garner, preceded him in death.
Reverend Garner will lie in state from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Saturday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The Gideon Bible Society and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
