Funeral services for Rex Junior Tackett, 83, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2022 in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Tackett passed away at 8:13 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2022, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born February 28, 1939, at Viola, Arkansas, to Clarence Noble Tackett and Ellen Genevra Coble Tackett. Rex graduated from West Plains High School with the Class of 1958. On January 3, 1959, he was married at Miami, Oklahoma, to Gingerella Bridges. Mr. Tackett broke and trained fox trotter horses, was a life member of the Missouri Fox Trotter Association and President of the Pioneer Saddle Club. He was a past board member of Cloud 9 Ranch where he loved to trout fish. Rex was a trader of anything, a car salesman and a real estate developer. Mr. Tackett was a member of First Christian Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gingerella Tackett, of the family home; three daughters, Ginny Thomason and husband, John, West Plains, Janet Poindexter and special friend, John Biring, West Plains and Pam Sims and husband, Mark, Joplin, Missouri; a sister-in-law he raised as his fourth daughter, Cindy Ragland; seven grandchildren, Paul Thomason, Cara Deaton and husband, Jarrod, Jeff Kenslow, Nicholas Sims, Jacob Sims, Dalton Sims and significant other, Kara and Tyler McMahan and wife, Chelsea; eleven great-grandchildren, Journey, Levi, Emily, Kelsey, Reese, Creighton, Jayman, Jax, Kendalyn, Lantz and Tucker; and a host of nieces and nephews that all called him Grandpa.
His parents preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Howell Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Saddle Club and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.

So very sorry to hear this news. Rex was a stand up guy. I know your hearts are hurting. He leaves you with a legacy and memories to last until you’re together again.

I am shocked and saddened by this news! Rex was a dad to alot of us, treated us all like his kids. Helped me out in a terrible time of my life. I’m so sorry Ginger, Ginny, Janet, Pammie and Cindy. You were loved by a great man!
