Virgil “Monk” Stowers
Funeral services for Virgil “Monk” Stowers, 85, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 27, 2012, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Stowers died at 6:10 p.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Brooke Haven Health Care.
He was born August 23, 1927, at Drury, Missouri, to James Preston Stowers and Vurna Tetrick Stowers. On May 9, 1950, he was married at Mountain Home, Arkansas, to Dorothy Louise Croney. He loved his family, grandchildren, great-grandkids, hunting and fishing and enjoyed bluegrass music. Mr. Stowers was of the Church of God faith.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Stowers, of the family home; four children, Glenda Collins, husband, Charles, Vurna White, husband, Dale, Vivion Stowers, special friend, John Miller and Linn Stowers, wife, Lora, all of West Plains, Missouri; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; one aunt, Lora Leroy, Dora, Missouri; and two daughters-in-law, Kay Woods, husband, Harold, West Plains, Missouri and Judy Stowers, Mountain Grove, Missouri.
His parents and two sons, James Lee Stowers and Charles Ray Stowers, precede him in death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Blanche Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Blanche Cemetery and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.

We have known the Stower family for many years and have a lot of memories of happy times spent with this family. We want to take this opportunity to say, all of the Stower family is in our thoughts and prayers and that Monk is a man that will be missed, not only by his family but by all that knew him.
