Graveside services for William Harold Shannon, 84, Gassville, Arkansas, will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, at Howell Valley Cemetery, under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mr. Shannon passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Baxter Regional Medical Center, Mountain Home, Arkansas.
He was born August 28, 1938, at Nettleton, Arkansas, to Hubert Shannon and Mary Pendergrass Shannon. On December 22, 1956, he was married at West Plains, Missouri, to Anna Faye Collins; to their union, two children were born, William (Bill) and Sandra (Sandy). Harold worked in construction in West Plains and Mountain Home and also worked for the City of Mountain Home street department. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching old westerns and spending time with family and friends. Harold was deeply loved by those that knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Shannon; one son, Bill Shannon and wife, Cheryl; five grandchildren, Jessica Majors (Kevin), Tara Williams (Donny), Megan Shannon (Chris Ledbetter), Cody Hickman (Becky) and Tamisha Hickman; eight great-grandchildren, Allysa Dunaway (Louis), Tristan Romine, Damien Romine (Samara), Devin Majors, Austin Majors, Landin Majors, Brianna Shannon and Lilly Williams; four great-great-grandchildren, Kimberly Dunaway, Brilynn Dunaway, Oaklin Majors and Nixsin Majors; three brothers-in-law, Ralph Edward Cooper, Royce Edward Collins, and Ricky Lynn Collins; one sister-in-law, Brenda Collins; and several nieces, nephews and cousins whom he dearly loved.
His parents, one daughter, Sandy, three sisters, Christine Howard, Illa Faye Mize and Lucy Summers, seven brothers-in-law, Elwood Mize, Norman Taylor, Glenn Hicks, Charles Howard, Eldon Ray (Buddy) Summers, James Ray Collins, and Clayton Reno, and two sisters-in-law, Vera Mae Collins and Shirley Jean Reno, preceded him in death.
Mr. Shannon will lie in state from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or a local food bank and may be left at or mailed to Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, 211 West Main, West Plains, MO 65775.
