Winifred Gentry
Funeral services for Winifred Uhlmann Gentry, 95, West Plains, Missouri, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 2, 2015, in the Rose Chapel at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gentry died at 6:30 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2015, at West Vue Nursing Center.
She was born May 4, 1920, at Buckhart, Douglas County, Missouri, to Hugo Uhlmann and Lucy Dell Eaton Uhlmann. She graduated from Ava High School on May 13, 1939 and on June 4, 1939, she was married at Buckhart, Missouri, to Curtis Rubin “C. R.” Gentry, who preceded her in death on January 3, 2004. Mrs. Gentry was a member of First Baptist Church for over sixty years where she was a member of the Ruth Sunday School class. She was also a member of the Mizpah Rebekah Lodge #77 for sixty-six years until the chapter closed; during her membership she held many offices, both locally and at the state level. Mrs. Gentry’s family was her focus in life.
She is survived by three children, Curtis Gentry, wife, Vera, Lacey’s Spring, Alabama, Janice Smith, husband, Kenneth, Houston, Alabama and Kenneth Gentry, wife, Janet, Joplin, Missouri; five grandchildren, Tammy Cooper, husband, Greg, Tracy Humphries, husband, Brent, Doug Gentry, Michael Gentry, wife, Amanda and Matthew Gentry, wife, Mary; six great-grandchildren, Amber Lamb, husband, Jerrod, Heather Cooper, Aaron Cooper, Jessica Jones, Logan Humphries and Landon Humphries; one great-great-granddaughter, Oakleigh Jones; and many nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, two brothers, Oscar and Arno Uhlmann and two sisters, Freida Kutter Merten and Ida Brazeal, precede her in death.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, and from 10:00 a.m.until service time on Tuesday, at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Breast Cancer Society and may be left at Robertson-Drago Funeral Home.
